Are you an UTCB student looking to broaden your academic and professional horizons?
The Erasmus+ Programme offers you the opportunity to study or undertake a traineeship in one of the European Union countries, allowing you to benefit from a unique international academic and professional experience.
Please consult the information below to learn how to apply, which destinations are available, and what types of grants you may be eligible for.
In order to participate in an Erasmus+ mobility, applicants must meet the following criteria:
(a) Be enrolled as a full-time student at UTCB.
This category includes Bachelor’s students (starting from the second year of study at the time of departure), Master’s students, and Doctoral candidates, within the duration of their study programme.
(b) Maintain student status at UTCB for the entire duration of the mobility, until its completion.
(c) Demonstrate good academic performance.
(d) Provide proof of language proficiency in the language of instruction at the host institution
(minimum recommended level: B1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages – CEFR).
Students may participate in the following types of Erasmus+ mobilities:
A study mobility may also include an additional traineeship period, provided it is planned in advance.
The same student may participate in up to a maximum of 12 months of physical mobility per study cycle, regardless of the number or type of mobility activities undertaken.
You may choose to spend a study period at one of the partner universities located in Erasmus+ Programme countries (KA131), depending on your field of study and the bilateral agreements concluded by UTCB.
Explore the List of Partner Universities and contact the Erasmus+ Coordinator of your faculty to tailor your international study experience.

Additionally, individual support may be granted for one travel day before and one travel day after the activity.
The distance between the place of origin and the venue of the activity is calculated using the European Commission Distance Calculator (link here).
Students or staff members opting for green means of transport may receive up to four additional days of individual support to cover round-trip travel days, where applicable.
Students who do not receive an Erasmus+ travel grant may still choose green travel. In this case, they will receive a one-time contribution of 50 EUR, in addition to individual support, and up to four additional days of individual support to cover travel days, where applicable.
Within mobility projects, students with fewer opportunities receive an additional amount on top of the Erasmus+ individual support, as follows:
For students with special needs (supported by relevant medical or official documentation), UTCB submits a request to ANPCDEFP for a supplementary Erasmus+ institutional grant covering eligible declared expenses, ensuring optimal conditions for mobility participation.
In this context, the student must submit a formal request, accompanied by copies of supporting documents, requesting a grant top-up strictly covering expenses arising from the special needs situation, and must commit to providing supporting documents (invoices and/or receipts) upon completion of the mobility.
UTCB students may also request an Erasmus+ grant top-up based on their social situation. Eligibility is established according to the criteria outlined in the UTCB Regulation on Social Scholarships applicable to the respective academic year and valid for all study cycles (Bachelor’s, Master’s, Doctoral).
Students who have applied or are applying for a social scholarship are automatically eligible for the Erasmus+ top-up. Application files will be verified by the competent UTCB bodies.
UTCB students selected for long-term Erasmus+ study mobilities will receive, in addition to the Erasmus+ grant, an External Mobility Scholarship funded by UTCB and administered by the Social Services Department, in accordance with the UTCB Scholarship Regulations.
80% pre-financing before departure, only after the Travel Order has been issued and the Financial Agreement has been signed by both parties (student and UTCB);
The UTCB External Mobility Scholarship is transferred monthly to a bank account in RON opened in the student’s name for the duration of the mobility.
The selection calendar, communicated by the Erasmus+ Office to faculties and coordinators, includes the following stages: committee formation, application submission (3 weeks), selection (3 days), and appeals resolution (1 day).
The Erasmus+ Office organises information sessions prior to selection, presenting the programme and available places, with the participation of former and current Erasmus+ students, who share real-life experiences.
The selection of students for long-term mobilities is conducted centrally by UTCB. Calls for applications are generally organised during the following periods:
Selection periods may vary depending on nomination deadlines set by partner universities. The February–March call is mandatory and organised annually, while the September–October call is supplementary, organised only for scholarships remaining unallocated after the first call.
Preparation for selection:
Students interested in exploring Erasmus+ mobility opportunities should:
Selection is carried out by the Selection Committee in accordance with the Erasmus+ Outgoing Mobility Regulations, based on the following minimum criteria:
For Bachelor’s first-year students, the weighted average of the first completed semester is considered. For Master’s and Doctoral students, both the Bachelor’s graduation average and grades obtained up to the time of application are taken into account.
Appeals may be submitted to erasmusout@utcb.ro within 24 hours of results publication and will be reviewed by the Appeals Committee.
To be accepted by the selected host university, students must complete the following steps:
Nomination Stage
After the list of admitted candidates is published, the UTCB Erasmus+ Office nominates students to host universities. Each host institution has its own nomination deadline, which may differ from UTCB’s application timeline. Students are advised to verify these deadlines during the application stage.
Application to the Host University
Once nominations are accepted, nominated students receive a confirmation email with application instructions. Students must consult the host university’s website for specific admission procedures, as each institution applies its own Erasmus+ regulations.
At this stage, the Learning Agreement is completed in collaboration with the Faculty Erasmus+ Coordinator.
Preparation of the Mobility File at the UTCB Erasmus+ Office
After receiving the Letter of Acceptance from the host university, students are considered admitted and may proceed with travel arrangements. To receive the Erasmus+ grant, students will receive a checklist of required documents from the Erasmus+ Office to complete the Mobility File.
