UTCB Hosts the EU-CONEXUS Pollution & Depollution Minor Mobility

24 November 2025

Between 10 and 14 November, the Technical University of Civil Engineering Bucharest (UTCB) hosted the on-site mobility for the EU-CONEXUS Pollution & Depollution Minor, welcoming 17 students from partner universities across the alliance: 2 from Athens, 2 from Rostock, 2 from Valencia and 10 from La Rochelle. For one week, students immersed themselves in a programme that combined technical training, laboratory practice and cultural exploration, offering a complete perspective on how environmental challenges are studied and addressed within EU-CONEXUS.

Throughout the mobility, participants worked alongside UTCB professors from the Faculty of Building Services Engineering and Faculty of Hydrotechnics, experiencing first-hand how pollutants behave in air and water, how particle removal systems operate and how advanced technologies such as membranes, plasma depollution, catalysis and gas analysis contribute to cleaner ecosystems. They carried out sedimentation and jar-test procedures, explored water treatment schemes, analysed mass transfer phenomena and engaged with the practical side of environmental engineering in UTCB’s laboratories.

Beyond the technical component, the programme also included activities that highlighted the cultural and academic life of Bucharest. Students discovered the city during guided visits and took part in events organised with the support of ESN ASE, whose intercultural night and community-building activities created a friendly atmosphere for everyone involved. Their experience was further enriched by UTCB’s Days of Sustainable Development and Social Innovation for Youth, an international event organised with the strong support of AUF, alongside the Austrian Cultural Forum and the French Institute. This offered participants the chance to attend conferences and workshops delivered by international experts in sustainability, technology, culture and regenerative practices, adding a broader dimension to their week in Bucharest.

The success of this mobility was made possible through the collaboration of many partners. UTCB warmly thanks AUF for supporting Friday’s programme and contributing to the interdisciplinary character of the event, ASCB for their constant involvement and assistance throughout the week, and ESN ASE for bringing an important cultural and social element to the experience. Our appreciation also goes to the academic staff and all those who supported the organisation of this edition. The Pollution & Depollution Minor mobility stands as another example of UTCB’s ongoing commitment to building meaningful European learning experiences and strengthening cooperation within the EU-CONEXUS alliance.
