Welcome Day for International Students at UTCB
Hello / Bonjour / Marhaban from Welcome Day for International Students!
Technical University of Civil Engineering Bucharest (UTCB) was pleased to host a new edition of the Welcome Day for International Students, an event dedicated to welcoming and supporting the growing community of international learners joining our university. The event primarily addressed students enrolled in the APLR – Preparatory Year of Romanian Language and the Faculty of Engineering in Foreign Languages (FILS).
Organized by the International Relations Office (Centrul de Relații Internaționale – CRI), the Welcome Day was designed to provide a friendly and informative environment in which students could connect with one another, gain valuable insights into university life, and begin their integration into the UTCB academic community.
Strengthening UTCB’s International Dimension
Enhancing the international dimension of UTCB is a strategic priority for the university. A diverse academic environment contributes significantly to the enrichment of university life, encourages intercultural dialogue, and fosters global competencies among all students and staff. Our international students play a central role in this mission, bringing with them a wide range of cultural perspectives, linguistic backgrounds, and unique experiences that add substantial value to UTCB’s academic and social landscape.
Messages from UTCB Leadership
The event was honored by the presence of distinguished members of the UTCB leadership:
- Alexandru Aldea, President of the UTCB Senate
- Daniela Țapuși, Dean of FILS
- Marina Rotaru, Vice-Dean of FILS
They addressed the student audience with warm welcoming messages, emphasizing the importance of international students within the university and acknowledging the contribution they make to the development and diversification of our academic community.
Presentations from CRI and University Support Structures
Following the institutional greetings, Lavinia Turcu, Interim Director of the International Relations Office, delivered an overview of UTCB’s international opportunities, mobility programs, and the support services available to students throughout their academic journey. Her presentation was complemented by an intervention from Sarab Moustafa, CRI representative for international student communication and FILS alumna, who provided practical guidance and shared her perspective as a former international student at UTCB.
The program continued with an informative session presented by Anula Coșoiu, representative of the Counseling and Career Guidance Center (CCOC). The presentation highlighted the center’s role in supporting students’ academic progress, personal development, and career orientation.
In addition, representatives from ASCB – The Association of Construction Students of Bucharest and ESN – Erasmus Student Network introduced the wide range of extracurricular activities, volunteer opportunities, and student communities available at UTCB, encouraging international students to actively engage in the university’s vibrant student life.
Community Building and Integration Activities
To further foster interaction and community spirit, the event concluded with an ice-breaking activity facilitated by ASCB. The session provided students with the opportunity to meet peers from various countries, discover common interests, and establish the first connections that will accompany them throughout their academic experience at UTCB.
The event was kindly hosted by FCFDP, to whom we extend our appreciation for their support.
Upcoming Event
We look forward to welcoming our international students once again at the next event dedicated to them:
